calpol question

Post by Em&Sam on Tue Jul 08, 2008 7:58 am

Sam is 12 weeks old this week and I have been giving him 2.5ml of Calpol every 12 hours when he has needed it.
Can I increase it to 5ml now he is weeks?

Also i have just given him 2.5ml now - when can he have another dose? Would it be 4 - 6 hours time?

I know i should know but the label isn't very clear on instructions.

Ta very much

Is he not well? I still only give 2.5mls to lil miss... and shes near on 6 months. She had a temp yesterday and I gave her a dose every 4 hours because when it wore off she just screamed and cried and her temp shot up to 38.5 ....Also your not supposed to give them calpol for more than 3 days in a row unless under medical supervision....remember the more you give and the more often you give it will mean your LO will build up a tolerance for the med, so if he gets a high temp in the future the calpol won't bring it down as effectively which is why doctors advise you not to over use it Smile

it's his teeth he's really chewing on everything he can and he's really irritable.

He hasn't had it often.
Doc prescribed it a few weeks ago because he was really suffering then.
I don't like to give him it but yesterday and today he's been constantly crying.

maybe you could try other ways ? nelsons powders are brilliant , cold kiwi / cucumber etc rubbed on his gums , a teething necklace ?

putting things in his mouth is also just a sign of him finding himself , everything goes in lelands mouth right now and he chews all the time but i havent once given him calpol for it .
