Severe Oedema

Post by Tiny Sue on Thu May 21, 2009 1:41 pm

Has anyone else got ankles the same width as their calves? I've got pre-eclampsia and my ankles and feet are swollen to the point that my insteps wobble when I walk!

Any pointers on how to manage this without sitting down all day? I guess not? It's just the worst isn't it? I wonder if you can get stretch marks in your ankles?

Aaaw.. bless you..! how are they managing your pre eclampsia?
i think the only way to manage is to keep them up tbh.. =(.. which sucks if you need to do stuff really..

I had really big ankles last week - it was mental, the skin was really tight. I think the general idea is keeping them raised when you do get to lie down to drain. Drink plenty of fluids, and try and sell your ankles for new ones. If you have pre-eclampsia should you tell the doctor?

The pre-eclampsia is mild, I had severe PET last time, but yes the doc knows. I'm drinking as much fluid as I can, and keeping the feet up as much as I can, but as you say Rainbow, I need to do stuff. I was on meds for blood pressure till last week when they took me off them in the hospital, but I may have to go back on them after my checkup. I'm not bad enough to be in hospital thank God, plus I have a three year old! She is in the creche most of the day, though so it's not so bad.

Very Happy I wonder if freecycle would take my ankles? Pity, my legs are my best feature when I'm not pg! Embarassed
