Updates:

We have several girls interested (actually about 50 but we have it down to 10)... amongst which are such gems as:

* girl in Yorkshire slagging off her current family and making it PERFECTLY clear all she wants is to be with her boyfriend.

* girl from France who wants to leave her 2 year old boy behind and come over here ?!?!

* 16 year old girl from Germany who likes light blue, the letter P and the number 4. But is too shy to call us.

* French girl currently living in Ulverston (about 45 mins from us) who isn't au pairing but wants to. Doesn't have any internet. Sigh.

We've asked the Ulverston girl to get a train here to come and see us today.

I'd see what the French girl from Ulverston girl is like and if she's not suitable, hold off a little while til someone decent comes along.
You don't want to have to get another Au Pair in a couple of weeks as another hasn't worked out!

I think I would check out the girl from Ulverton. The others I would skip. Did all the others on your original list go? I hope you get a good one x

Re: Au pairs - apparently this title isn't long enough so try this stupid forum

Post by debecca on Tue Aug 30, 2011 1:55 pm

Ulverston girl has just left. She's half French half Vietnamese, and tiny like me. She LOVES the kids and has played with them all night. She also said she thinks we have raised them perfectly as they're wonderful (way to go saying all the right things).

She's wanting to stay in the UK forever (her family are relocating to Vietnam from Nice in South FRance) as she's always loved the language and the culture and she wants to stay near Ulverston as she has friends there.

Her English is good but she has a definite French accent with a tinge of American. Connie could understand her though. At one point Connie corrected her pronunciation and she also said, "Take your coat off Hanna you're staying aren't you?"...

She's happy to do housework and she's flexible... so if we want her to work more one week and then give her more time off the next week that's fine. She said she would try her best to make our lives easier.

Only small worrying thing is she doesn't have any hobbies or interests except singing.

I have 2 more good girls I've phoned today too.

It's looking promising.

What do you think? Is Hanna a goer?
